Pier Pop-Up Exhibition

This August, we are very excited to be holding a special pop-up event on Gravesend Town Pier on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th August based on the theme of the Great British Holiday. Part of this event will be an open-call mini exhibition and we are therefore inviting creatives to submit up to 3 pieces of work for consideration.

The theme of the event is the Great British Holiday and will include an exhibition and activities based around the history of the seaside resort holiday and summer holiday camps from the 1930s-1990s, day trips in the Victorian era, and the resurgence of the popularity of the staycation in the early 2020s.

Submissions can be in 2D or 3D media including but not restricted to painting, drawing, print, photography, collage, upcycling, recycled materials and sculpture, and must reflect the theme of the Great British Holiday. For example: the Kentish seaside, postcards, beach balls, ice creams, deck chairs, vintage travel posters, end of pier entertainment, beach huts etc.

There will be no charge for the pieces of work chosen for the exhibition.

Also, whilst we won’t be able to sell the pieces of work for you on site on this occasion, you will be able to leave contact details for customers to contact you direct to make purchases.  

The deadline date for submissions is Sunday 22nd June 2025 11.59pm.

Successful entries will be informed during the following week with instructions for delivering work to the St George’s Arts Centre in July.

Please note 2D pieces will be displayed on easels whilst 3D pieces will either be free standing or placed in a cabinet.

Due to the size of the exhibition space, we will be restricted on the number of pieces chosen for display.

It is the artists’ responsibility to insure their work.

The Gallery is unable to return artwork by post.
