DATE

VENUE
St Andrew's Gardens
10am – 5pm at St Andrew’s Quayside – come and join our acrobatic juggling pirates, have your picture taken in the frozen North Pole, take part in a variety of fun workshops in our special ‘igloos’ – your may even see a roaming Polar Bear! Look Out!
The workshops:
'Come and sculpt some of the salty Crew members of Franklin's doomed voyage to arctic waters onboard 'The Terror' and 'Erebus'. You'll be shown how to gradually sculpt a simple clay head then gradually build up character and detail until you have your own miniature sea dog to take home with you.
With artist and musk / puppet maker, Jonny Dixon.
Arctic Animal Suncatchers. Come and learn how to make a fun and colourful suncatcher using coloured papers and arctic animal silhouettes.
With artists Jo Lucy and Sonnia.
Scrimshaw Pyrography. On long sea journeys, sailors and explorers would decorate wood and bone with images they saw around them. We will use heated tools to recreate this activity. Using simply motifs from maritime life we will decorate wooden items for you to take home. Due to use of heat, this workshop is suitable for ages 12+ or very closely supervised by a parent.
With artist, Andy Hopton.
Cyanotype Seascapes. Using overlays, cyanotype paper and a UV lamp you will have the opportunity to create your own monochrome artwork using this exciting and innovative technique.
With artist, Elle Tennyson.
