Woodville Theatre for Youth

Woodville Theatre For Youth is The Woodville's first ever Youth Theatre Company. Come along and
with the aim of teaching skills for life, not just theatre. WTFY is the perfect place for young people from all walks of life with a passion to perform! We focus on developing confidence, team building and communication skills and are deeply committed to enriching the lives of young people from the local community.

WTFY offers a vital, creative outlet for children and young people who may sometimes struggle to achieve and find direction in life. We provide a fun and safe environment and strive to tailor everything we do to suit our member’s needs.

Sessions for 7 - 11 year olds are on Wednesdays at 4.30 - 6.30pm.

14th January – 25th March 2015
(No sessions during half term)

Fees for the 10 week term are £95 and siblings get a 50% discount. Weekly payments and half term payments are available, please speak to Claire and discuss options.

After two fantastic performances of THE NATIVITY – WITH A DIFFERENCE this term Woodville Theatre for Youth will be exploring a variety of performance styles from comedy and physical theatre to dramatic scripted work. Friends and family are invited to come along a see an informal showing of this term’s work – date and time TBC.

Education at the Woodville

  • The Woodville Education at the Woodville

The Woodville has partnered with a freelance Education Coordinator.

The aims of this partnership are to;
  • Broaden the appeal and understanding of the arts,
  • Provide educational opportunities and experiences for patrons,
  • Delivery of workshops and tours to schools, colleges, community groups, clubs and societies, and individuals.

The Woodville Education at the Woodville

Our programme includes:
  • Workshops for young people (pre-school upwards) on a variety of themes,
  • Workshops for school groups that link with areas of the curriculum,
  • Workshops for people with special educational needs and/or disabilities,
  • Workshops for community groups, clubs and societies,
  • Master classes led by visiting practitioners,
  • Workshops for schools to support our in-house productions,
  • Talks and handling sessions.

We aim to;
  • Develop and promote the theatre’s on-going programme of in-house workshops and educational activities, to enhance audience and community access, enjoyment and understanding.
  • Build strong links with schools, colleges and the local education authority to develop a range of projects and workshops that promote the art form and the work of the theatre.
  • Work with visiting and in-house directors and performers to produce educational activities that support the Theatre’s major projects and productions.
  • Develop educational resources for schools, colleges and other visitor’s through a range of media that will help them make sense of our performances.
  • Explore funding opportunities for educational work, as well as provide educational input to other production and project planning processes.
  • Develop partnerships and collaborations with other organisations that provide educational and cultural activities.

Claire Goatham, who works with The Woodville on a Freelance Partnership basis, provides an excellent range of workshops and organises Master Classes for local students eager to learn more about the workings of a modern theatre complex.
